Small Home Changes Can Improve Your Family's Health

My husband and I both suffer from allergies and asthma and, unfortunately, two of our children inherited our health problems. Living with both can be a struggle, but we take every step we can to keep our family healthy. One spring, when our seasonal allergies were especially bad, we decided to finally have our carpeting replaced with natural tile flooring and that was a great decision. Even though it seemed like we vacuumed constantly, I guess our carpets harbored more dust and mites than we ever expected! Since then, we have invested in other upgrades to improve our family's health, including antimicrobial kitchen counter tops. I enjoy helping others, so I decided to start a blog to share what we have learned about home upgrades and renovations. I plan to post on a variety of topics, so there will be something of interest to everyone!

Six Tell-Tale Signs Of Affordable Tree Service

Take a look at this checklist, and you'll know how to spot tree service companies that are going to give you reasonable, affordable rates for taking care of tree work, such as Quality Tree Service And Landscape Maintenance, versus those companies that are ready to bill you quite a lot more for the same kinds of services.

First and foremost, you want to be sure that your tree workers are licensed, bonded, and insured. But beyond that, some firms can give you better prices because of lower overhead, small, localized operations, and a general willingness to negotiate price. Here are some tips for finding the best and most affordable tree services for taking down a backyard tree, pruning landscape or other related tree services.

Take a Look at the Business Fleet

Some companies have invested more in additional trucks and machines, but they may pass those costs on to you. Take a look at the equipment that a tree service uses, and consider how that might factor into a business plan, and how these kinds of costs are going to show up on your estimate. Look for more information on how tree companies develop business plans at Vermeer.

Get a General Price Quote

Another way to spot the more affordable tree services is to ask up-front about how much the firm will charge for completely removing a dead tree. Some companies will immediately start telling you they'll charge $1,000, $2,000, or more for the service, while other more affordable companies will quote significantly below $1000, according to the size of the tree and other factors. You'll be amazed at the range of quotes you get, and you can use this information to start narrowing down your list of options.

Ask about Chipping or Re-use

A big part of the cost of tree services involves carting off all of that extra wood. Some companies will allow you to negotiate prices that don't involve that removal — for instance, you can ask them to chip up the wood so that you can use it for mulch or for some types of lawn decoration.

Ask About the Company's Schedule

Tree services tend to charge significant amounts of money just for the trip to your home or business. But there's a way to get around this. For instance, if there's just been a big storm and tree companies are busy in your neighborhood, ask about immediate price quotes for same-day or same-week service. The company may be able to combine two nearby projects, and charge you less money. If you haven't seen a lot of local activity, ask companies about when they will be in your neighborhood, and schedule accordingly for discounts.

Ask About Extras

Another way to get an idea of what companies may charge is to ask them about the cost of removing an additional wood pile or pruning an additional tree. Look at the resulting dollar amount, and see whether this company is offering you competitive rates, or just padding their price estimates.

Use Available Online Tools

Online resources will help you take a look at competing local businesses to see where you can get the most affordable tree service. Plug in all of the details about your project to get specific local quotes.

The above techniques can help you get major price reductions on tree care or tree removal when you have to get your property looking good without paying an arm and a leg for tree work.
