Small Home Changes Can Improve Your Family's Health

My husband and I both suffer from allergies and asthma and, unfortunately, two of our children inherited our health problems. Living with both can be a struggle, but we take every step we can to keep our family healthy. One spring, when our seasonal allergies were especially bad, we decided to finally have our carpeting replaced with natural tile flooring and that was a great decision. Even though it seemed like we vacuumed constantly, I guess our carpets harbored more dust and mites than we ever expected! Since then, we have invested in other upgrades to improve our family's health, including antimicrobial kitchen counter tops. I enjoy helping others, so I decided to start a blog to share what we have learned about home upgrades and renovations. I plan to post on a variety of topics, so there will be something of interest to everyone!

Four Ways To Give Your Home A Makeover With Garage Doors That Have A Modern Look

If you have a home with a garage, the door may be an eye soar.  If it is an old door, it may even have problems that require constant repairs, like coming of the track and the springs breaking. There are many ways you can give your home a makeover with garage doors with a modern design and look. If you want to change the look of your garage doors, here are some modern ideas that you may want to consider for your home:

1. Giving Your Home New Modern Façade And Replace The Door

One way you can change the look of your garage door is by adding a new façade to your home. This can be a brick veneer with an arch, which will allow you to replace your garage door with one that has more architectural shapes and design features in it. You can also have the garage door and façade made to match if you want the door to be less noticeable.

2. Modern Wood Garage Door Replacement For Your Old Door

Wood doors can also be a good improvement to your garage. You can get modern wood doors with many different design features. You can combine different materials with wood to give your door a unique look. Your doors can also use different species of woods to achieve different textures and colors in the design of the doors.

3. Integrated Windows And Doors In Your The Design Of The Door

You may also want to have practical solutions integrated into the design of your garage doors. Modern doors can also include windows and doors in them. This can be great if the space you are installing a garage door in is not just for parking cars. It can also be a great way to make the garage door a little less noticeable, and have it match the other windows and doors in your home.

4. Using Glass And Other Materials In The Design Of Your Garage Door

Glass and other materials with a more modern look can also be a great solution to change the look of your garage door. You can used tinted or textured glass in the doors to add security and privacy to them.  If you want to have exterior illumination, you can have this done with fog-textured glass and install back lighting around the door.  This is great for creating shadows with the exterior lighting of your home.

These are some ideas that you may want to consider to give you home a new look with modern garage doors. If you want to change the look of the garage doors on your home, contact a garage door repair contractor (such as one from Dependable Overhead Doors) to get help with some of these improvements.
