Small Home Changes Can Improve Your Family's Health

My husband and I both suffer from allergies and asthma and, unfortunately, two of our children inherited our health problems. Living with both can be a struggle, but we take every step we can to keep our family healthy. One spring, when our seasonal allergies were especially bad, we decided to finally have our carpeting replaced with natural tile flooring and that was a great decision. Even though it seemed like we vacuumed constantly, I guess our carpets harbored more dust and mites than we ever expected! Since then, we have invested in other upgrades to improve our family's health, including antimicrobial kitchen counter tops. I enjoy helping others, so I decided to start a blog to share what we have learned about home upgrades and renovations. I plan to post on a variety of topics, so there will be something of interest to everyone!

About Investing in Planned Maintenance for an HVAC System

Are you tired of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system needing untimely repairs? The best way to make sure an HVAC system will run without a problem is investing in planned maintenance. Find out in this article what you should know about maintenance for your HVAC system.

What Makes Planned Maintenance Ideal for an HVAC System?

Planned maintenance is a service involving occasional inspections of your HVAC system to detect problems. Planned maintenance can help you avoid not having heat in the winter or cool air in the summer. A contractor will basically inspect all of the vital parts of the HVAC system that can cause inefficiency when you need to run it. He or she will also change the filter during each visit if necessary.

The air duct system can affect the efficiency of heating and cooling your home, so it is an area that will be inspected during planned maintenance. The air ducts will be looked at to determine if there are any cracks in them that need to be sealed up to prevent air from seeping out. The contractor will also clean the air ducts out because too much dirt or debris can create an air blockage.

The furnace to your HVAC system is another area that will be inspected. A bad furnace can lead to incomplete combustion taking place and carbon monoxide circulating in the air. The contractor will check the pilot to make sure nothing is preventing the flame from igniting. He or she may also clean the furnace and alert you to fire hazards in the surrounding area.

How Many Times per Year Should Planned Maintenance Be Done?

You can invest in getting planned maintenance done for your HVAC system as often as you desire. The more your system is inspected by a contractor, the faster you will be able to detect problems before they become major. Just make sure planned maintenance is done at least two times per year at a minimum by a professional.

Planned maintenance can prevent your HVAC system from developing multiple problems at the same time. Taking good care of the system is also a great way to keep it running efficiently so you can save on energy costs. Do not delay getting in touch with an HVAC contractor, like one from Chappel's Heating & Cooling, so he or she can inspect your system and make repairs!
