Small Home Changes Can Improve Your Family's Health

My husband and I both suffer from allergies and asthma and, unfortunately, two of our children inherited our health problems. Living with both can be a struggle, but we take every step we can to keep our family healthy. One spring, when our seasonal allergies were especially bad, we decided to finally have our carpeting replaced with natural tile flooring and that was a great decision. Even though it seemed like we vacuumed constantly, I guess our carpets harbored more dust and mites than we ever expected! Since then, we have invested in other upgrades to improve our family's health, including antimicrobial kitchen counter tops. I enjoy helping others, so I decided to start a blog to share what we have learned about home upgrades and renovations. I plan to post on a variety of topics, so there will be something of interest to everyone!

3 Reasons To Have A Water Well If You're A Gardener

If you are someone who has a lot of plants, then you are probably familiar with the process of watering them. Even though you might currently just use the water supply in your area, such as through your municipal water company, you may want to consider installing a well if you are a gardener. These are a few reasons why.

1. Save Money on Watering Your Plants

Watering your plants can get costly, particularly if you have large gardens or a lot of landscaping. Of course, installing a water well can be costly, but you could find that the savings will outweigh the costs over time if you use enough water. This can be a good way to eventually reduce how much you spend on gardening.

2. Avoid Caps on Water Usage

If you live in an area that sometimes get very dry, you might be subject to occasional caps on water usage. For example, "non-essential watering" might not be allowed. This can lead to dying plants, which is obviously something that you want to avoid as someone who is serious about gardening. If you have your own water well, however, you do not have to worry about these caps. Just make sure that your well is dug deep enough to help you avoid running out of your water supply, which can be a problem if your well is too shallow.

3. Avoid Using Water with Chemicals

If you grow your own food, one thing that you might be worried about is the chemicals that are used on your plants. For example, you might be very careful about the fertilizers that you use. One other thing that you might be worried about is the chemicals that are in the water that you are using to water your plants. After all, many water treatment facilities use various chemicals to help ensure that the water is clean and safe. If you use water from a water well, however, you do not have to worry about all of these chemicals. This is something that you might want to take into consideration if you want to ensure that your plants are as natural as possible.

As you can see, there are a few reasons why installing a water well can be a good idea if you are into gardening. For these reasons and more, consider talking to someone who specializes in installing water wells, such as a service like Hull Well & Pump Service. Then, you might find that you are happy with your choice for these reasons and more.
