Small Home Changes Can Improve Your Family's Health

My husband and I both suffer from allergies and asthma and, unfortunately, two of our children inherited our health problems. Living with both can be a struggle, but we take every step we can to keep our family healthy. One spring, when our seasonal allergies were especially bad, we decided to finally have our carpeting replaced with natural tile flooring and that was a great decision. Even though it seemed like we vacuumed constantly, I guess our carpets harbored more dust and mites than we ever expected! Since then, we have invested in other upgrades to improve our family's health, including antimicrobial kitchen counter tops. I enjoy helping others, so I decided to start a blog to share what we have learned about home upgrades and renovations. I plan to post on a variety of topics, so there will be something of interest to everyone!

3 High-Impact Changes To Consider Making In Your Kitchen

When you look at the rooms in your house, you may find that the kitchen gets used the most out of them all. This may encourage you to work on the kitchen, knowing that it will have a noticeable impact on your family. If you want to combine remodeling a popular room with high-impact changes, you should think about some of the additions and improvements that you can make.

Backsplash

If you do not mind working on changes that mainly affect the appearance of the kitchen, you should consider adding a new backsplash. When you have a certain design in mind, you will find it easy to plan out this change to your kitchen. However, not knowing what kind of material, design, or color combination you want to use for the backsplash can make this challenging.

The great thing about a backsplash is that because you have so many options, you can take your time with choosing a design and end up with one that everyone in your household loves.

When you want to get improved functionality from the backsplash, you should consider going with a design that makes it easy to spot splashes as well as clean them up.

Cabinetry

Another impactful change is replacing all the cabinets in the kitchen. If you are comfortable with how your cabinet's function and they are not that old, you may prefer to replace the doors and shelves to make noticeable changes without replacing everything. However, when dealing with old and worn-down cabinets, you should not hesitate to get all new custom-made cabinets.

This will give you an opportunity to try out new designs and styles. Also, you can get even more use out of cabinets by expanding their size or adding new cabinets in unused areas. This will give you extra storage space that allows you to start picking up more items to use in the kitchen.

Painting

While it may not play much of a role in improving functionality, you can make a high-impact change by painting the ceiling, trims, and walls throughout the kitchen. If you are currently using neutral colors that give the whole kitchen a neutral look, you can change that by going with bold colors everywhere or even on just a wall or two to make a noticeable and impactful difference.

Taking on certain kitchen remodeling projects will give you the high-impact changes that you want to see in your kitchen.
